Council Minutes
July 14, 2011
The July 14th meeting of the Resurrection Lutheran Church Council was called to order by President Troy Battig at 6:30 p.m. Those present in addition to Troy were: Jeanie Wilkens, Wilbur Wilkens, Dan Kuntz, Mike Lage, Dale White, Mark Kranz and Pastor Dwaine.
Mark led us in devotions.
There was a motion and a second to approve the agenda as it was presented. Motion carried. There was a motion and a second to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. Motion carried.
Reports-
Outreach – Had a float in the parade on July 4th. They are preparing for the college students to return.
Stewardship – There is a Synod seminar on Aug. 18th. Hopefully, those on the committee will be able to attend either in person or via webcast.
Christian Ed – VBS is scheduled to start on July 31st.
Church in Society – GRIP continues to look at the poverty in the 742 school district. They will collect school supplies this fall. Habitat is having a “more than houses tours” from now until the fall. Visit the Habitat ReStore and see what they are doing in our area.
Staff – Continue to set up coffee and treats for staff at their staff meetings.
Property – Prayer garden is waiting for fall planting. The fountain will be going in soon. Rain garden is done and has “weathered” a few storms already. A tree went down on the side of the Church and it has been cut up and removed.
Staff reports –
Pastor Linda submitted her report.
Pastor Dwaine – Doing the book study on Love Wins. Pastor Dwaine also participated in the mission trip to Peoples Church in Bemidji this week.
Old Business-
Building Needs Task Force met in June and went through the survey cards. They will do a summary of them for the August newsletter. They will meet again to focus on the next step.
New Communion ware is done and looks great! The Worship Committee is planning a dedication for sometime early this fall.
Rain Garden is completed at a cost of $15,241.76. With the grant and our fundraising, we are short about $688.24. There was a motion and a second to use the funds from the Memorial account and the Interest account, $293.50 and $261.26, as well as $133.48 from the building account to make up the shortfall. Motion carried.
1 year building funds letters went out last week to all members who participated in the fund appeal.
We will continue to look into electronic giving.
Financials – We have a bank balance of $9,156. The expenses are down 4.74%
Next meeting will be August 11th at 6:30 p.m.
