Council President Annual Report 2011
Taking some time to look back, I was so impressed with how many wonderful things happened at Resurrection this year. As a first time council member and president, I got to see firsthand, how much hard work and dedication goes into making this church community so strong and uplifting.
Both inside and out, our church continues to grow. The addition of our prayer and rain gardens beautify our surroundings while providing practical and spiritual benefits as well. We welcomed many new members into the church with new births and fresh faces. We also continue to prepare for continued growth as we plan building expansion and improvements. The Building Needs Task Force asked for your feedback, and you delivered! Your comments and suggestions will help guide us in continuing our mission here at Resurrection.
The growth of our church means we can continue to provide encouragement, shelter, and support through our benevolence. A group of volunteers travelled to Bemidji for a week to lead Vacation Bible School, serve some much needed meals, and provide some elbow grease to help maintain valuable transitional housing. Whether it’s a cart full of groceries or a box of coats and hats, I am reminded every time I walk in the front doors just how generous and loving our congregation is.
Finally, as the proud parent of one of our largest confirmation classes ever, I am most impressed by the pure joy that our young people display in their own journeys of faith. I have always believed that children are the light of the world and the life of our church. Through the Global Barnyard and our Good Gifts Fair, we all learned how one chicken or pig can dramatically change the life for one family and then an entire community. These single acts of random kindness show our children they can make a difference in the world.
Thank you to all of you for your support and continued generosity in our mission to share God’s love.
Yours in Christ,
Troy Battig
